 | Why You Should Write A Book Now More Than Ever To Help Your Business Grow. Part 1posted by Glen Evans, Valued MemberMonday, May 2nd 2011 @ 12:38 PM |
Do you see yourself as an expert in your area of business? Is there anyone else who knows as much as you about what you do in your geographical area?
Maybe there is, but I will bet they haven't written a book.
I believe everyone has a book to write. Given your uinque experiences, training, and insights, you alone can give your special view on your area of expertise.
Why should you write a book now? It's simple, a book is content, and content is the key to demonstrating your knowlege and abilities when marketing online or making personal connections with people.
In my book, I teach local business owners how to save money on marketing by using the Internet.
Here are 5 reasons to write a book to help your business.
1. It is now easier than ever to write a book.
If you have a program like Word, then you can write a book. Create a simple outline, write a fixed number of tips, or write a manifesto. The big idea here is that you can write down your fascinating ideas and share them with the world for free.
Title it with what you do (example: Buying Real Estate in Chicago, Choosing The Right Dog Kennel, How To Buy A High End Home Theater System, How To Hire A Plumber and Not Get Ripped Off). Turn it into a pdf file and upload it to your website.
2. Writing a book gives you instant credibility.
People stop in their tracks when they hear you have written a book. When you say the words "I am an author," it opens a door to talk about what you do.
3. Sell it or give it away.
I sell my book as an E-book on Amazon and Google E-books. There are literally thousands of places to post your book. I have used my keywords in the description box and people find it in searches. I also give it away to anyone who joins my free website. My cost - $0.00. My result? Free traffic and a way to grab an email address at networking meetings.
It helps me stay connected with people I meet and I instantly become a friend and trusted source of information. If and when they have a need, maybe they will think of me. Even better, they can pass my book to a friend in need.
4. In the book, you talk about what you are passionate about and how you can help people.
It is free advertising and marketing for your particular topic. Not only can you use the book to demonstrate your knowledge, but you can also leave your contact information there. You never know who might read your information, and traffic comes from many sources. In my book, I reveal how I obtain high traffic and high search engine rankings for local businesses.
5. It is a natural fit for high search engine rankings. When people want information, they usually use a search engine like Google. You can use promotions of your book via press releases, Facebook, blog posts, and videos uploaded to You Tube, to boost traffic and search engine rankings. One way to create content for your blog is to take a tip or chapter from your book and post it.
6. I know I said only 5 reasons, but here is a 6th. When you speak to groups, you can generate a list of email addresses from people who want to hear from you by giving your book away. I was able to build a list of about 2000 people pretty quickly from many of my speaking events. I regularly connected with them via email about every 2 weeks with helpful information and advice. This generated new business and allowed me to keep my business in front of them for many months afterward.
In my next post, I will show you how easy it is to not only write a book, but to have it published.
